Our Melbourne programs

The Welcome Centre

The Welcome Centre is a safe and welcoming community space for people seeking asylum in Melbourne.

We offer lots of different activities to help you settle in and find your feet, including:

Classes and workshops - such as English, computer and creative arts lessons
Community Meals Program - a space to prepare food and share your cultural cuisine
Excursions - where you and your family can experience all that Melbourne has to offer
Practical Support - including assistance with food, housing, material aid, transport and referrals
Social inclusion programs, such as a Women’s group and LGBTIQ+ peer support group
Relaxing and socialising in the welcoming and safe space that is the Asylum Seeker Welcome Centre.

Asylum Seeker Project

The Asylum Seeker Project offers support for people seeking asylum who are living in the community while their claims are being processed.

Professional casework support such as assistance with finding legal support, work, education and community
Placement in supported housing
Access to financial relief, food and material aid
TIS interpreters available.

Our Shepparton services

The Settlement Hub

The Settlement Hub in Shepparton provides ongoing support for individuals and families who have been in Australia for less than five years.

The Hub offers programs and services to make the settlement process easier and to gain independence.

It focuses on fostering social participation, economic and personal wellbeing and community connections.

Reconnect New Arrival Support (NAYS)

Young people who have been in Australia under any visa for less than five years are eligible for Reconnect NAYS. Our case workers connect youth aged 12 to 21 with education, training, employment and housing options. We also offer advocacy and mediation to help them reconnect them to family and community.
