Signs you may need food relief and material aid
If you are experiencing difficulty affording necessities such as food relief and other essentials, we can help. Hardship can stem from a multitude of causes.
- Job loss or reduced working hours
- Eviction and homelessness
- Natural disasters including floods and bushfires
- Divorce or relationship breakdown
- Family breakdown and abandonment
- Difficulties with resettlement.
These can all affect your position and security in life, but you’re not without support. We can help you put food on the table, find safe housing and feel hopeful about the future.
Who we can support
We assist people of all ages and stages of life who are living in Victoria and Tasmania and are experiencing financial hardship. If you need help putting food on the table or accessing basic needs, our team can support you.
How we can support you
Our service is able to provide you with access to food and other necessities so you can meet your and your family’s basic needs. Crisis can occur throughout any stage of life, but our experienced centre members are trained to assist.
- Groceries and non-perishable food - We can provide access to essential food items, including non-perishable goods, such as canned and packaged foods, and fresh groceries like fruits and vegetables
- Food vouchers to purchase supplies - Vouchers or coupons that can be used to purchase food and supplies from participating stores or retailers
- Personal care items - We can help with essential personal care items like soap, toothbrushes, and shampoo, as well as hygiene products like sanitary pads and nappies
- Clothing - Access to clothing, including new and gently used clothing items, such as jackets, pants, and shirts
- Household goods - Access to general household goods including mattresses, refrigerators, and other basic furniture.
We are also able to provide additional support by referring you to other services so you can work towards a more stable future.
These services can include:
- Bill and expenses support - Supporting individuals to pay their bills and manage expenses, including help with utilities, phone bills, and other necessary expenses
- Community meals - Free or low-cost meals for individuals and families who are struggling to make ends meet
- Emergency & affordable housing - Temporary or long-term housing options for individuals or families facing homelessness or housing insecurity
- Financial counselling and affordable loans - Financial counselling to support individuals to manage their finances and access affordable loan options.
