The St Kilda Engagement Hub has been operating for over 40 years and started as a response to the marginalisation, stigmatisation and isolation experienced by people in the local community struggling with mental illness.
We at Uniting Vic.Tas work to support the St Kilda community through our various outreach and social services. Everyone deserves the opportunity to live happy and healthy lives and to feel included in their community. Our programs specialise in helping people improve their wellbeing and work towards more positive outcomes.
Located on Carlisle Street in St Kilda, we provide support through our emergency relief, community meals and mental health services accessed through referral.
Train: Balaclava train station is a 5 minute walk away
Tram: #3, #78, #16 stop outside the Engagement Hub.

The St Kilda Engagement Hub provides a safe space for people with a mental health diagnosis aged 18 and above, and is an entry point and important tool in breaking the cycle of long–term homelessness, ill health, malnutrition, and other social determinants of ill health. On–site, a dedicated team of Mental Health Support Workers is available to provide assistance to participants.
Eligibility is open to all individuals aged 18 and above living with a mental health diagnosis. The centre operates on a drop-in basis, and registration packs can be obtained from one of our Mental Health Support Workers between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
For a referral, individuals can visit the Engagement Hub directly, receive referral documents, and have a practitioner (e.g., GP, psychiatrist, psychologist, case manager) complete the necessary paperwork, confirming their diagnosis.
Financial hardship can strike at any time, but you should never have to endure it alone. At Uniting Vic.Tas, we offer emergency relief services so you access compassionate and practical support. In 2023 we delivered over 14,000 hot, nutritious meals.
Our Engagement Hub hosts our community meal programs, which include nutritious breakfasts between 9am – 10:30am and lunches between 12pm – 1pm on weekdays. You can access a free or low-cost healthy and delicious meal in a safe and welcoming environment.
