The inaugural Walk to Change the Story event will be held on Wednesday 28 November 2018.

Organised by Gippsland Lakes Community Health, in conjunction with other local health and community service providers, this event is part of the 16 Days of Activism campaign, a global movement designed to end violence against women.

Uniting Vic. Tas is taking part in this event.

Walk to Change the Story aims to raise awareness about the violence that women and children are experiencing in the community.

The event also seeks to highlight the local support services available to those impacted, and ways to prevent family violence.

The event includes:

  • A community march along Main Street in Bairnsdale. Meet at Gippsland Lakes Community Health (McCulloch Street, Bairnsdale) at 10.30am to walk along Main Street to the All Abilities Playground
  • A BBQ
  • Children’s activities
  • A smoking ceremony
  • Guest speakers
  • Information stalls by local organisations
