Home and residential support for young people.

If you're finding it difficult to remain at home with your family, or you’re currently homeless, we can help you work towards a safe home environment.

Homelessness and housing support

Support for a safe home environment.

There are a range of reasons why a young person might find it difficult to stay at home, including conflict within the family, mental health challenges, unemployment, problematic alcohol or other drug use, or violence within the home.

We deliver dedicated programs that help you and your family:

Our programs are tailored to each individual, and can include outreach, case management, mediation and advocacy so young people can be represented, supported and understand their rights.

Our programs

Reconnect

Reconnect is a free early intervention program for young people aged 12 to 18 who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. You can access counselling, mediation, and practical support to help stabilise your situation and work with a caseworker to rebuild connections with your family or community. You’ll also be able to get linked in with housing, education, employment, and other services to help you get back on track.

Reconnect New Arrival Support (NAYS)

Reconnect New Arrival Support (NAYS) helps young people in Shepparton who have newly arrived in Australia to reconnect with their goals and access welcoming and supportive services. Our case workers can connect you with education, training, employment and housing options. We also offer advocacy and mediation to help you reconnect with family and community.

Detour

Detour is an early intervention program that works with young people aged 12-24 at risk of homelessness in Shepparton or surrounding areas. We provide support to overcome challenges and create a plan based on your strengths and ideas.

Finding Solutions

Finding Solutions is a three-month program where you’ll work with a dedicated caseworker to help strengthen your relationship with your family through mediation, group work, and practical support. You can access a range of resources and referrals – including mental health, family mediation, and education services – to help you and your family work through conflict, parenting challenges, and other issues that may be affecting your home life.

Adolescent Family Services

Adolescent Family Services is a support program for young people aged 12 to 17 that you can access if you are already known to Child Protection – whether you are living at home, at risk of leaving home, or trying to find a stable place to live. You’ll work with a caseworker who can help you with things like managing conflict at home, connecting with the right services, and figuring out the best living situation for you.

Youth Outreach (Wimmera)

Youth Outreach (Wimmera) is a free service where you can get support from a youth worker who will come to you – whether that’s in your community, at home, or wherever you feel comfortable. You can get help connecting with local services, working through challenges in your life, and building the skills and supports you need to move forward.

Creating Connections

Creating Connections is a free early intervention program for young people aged 15 to 25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, where you can access tailored accommodation and housing support designed around your individual needs. You’ll receive practical help and connection to a range of services to get you into safe and stable housing and support you to build a more secure future.

Out of home care

If staying in the family home is no longer an option, our youth residential care supports young people to work towards a brighter future within safe accommodation.

Therapeutic Residential Care

For young people across the Wimmera region. Therapeutic Residential Care provides a home for children and young people who are temporarily unable to live with family or foster carers. Our Therapeutic Residential Adolescent Care Unit in the Wimmera is for young people aged 12 to 17 who have lived through neglect and abuse in their day to day lives. It is especially beneficial for children and young people with multiple and complex needs.

All referrals are made through the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) in Victoria.
