Sticking with schooling.
Students who engage more regularly with school can look to a brighter future. We work with primary and secondary aged children to keep them interested in going to school.
School engagement programs
Empowering young people.
Our school engagement programs work with students who are finding it difficult to maintain interest in schooling, and show signs of disengaging from school and their families.
These programs support the wellbeing of young people and their families and help to build on strengths, increase school attendance, improve school connectedness and get more involved in their community.
Study Buddies is a free weekly homework support group, held every Wednesday, for primary aged students.
Facilitated by a trained volunteer educator, the group is designed to support and encourage primary aged children with their schoolwork.
The group provides:
- Support with completing math, reading and writing homework.
- Healthy snacks for afternoon tea.
- Help modelling a calm approach to study at home.
Sessions are held every Wednesday from 3:30 - 5:00pm during school term. Parents are encouraged to attend.
The Navigator program supports young people aged 12 to 17 years old to re-engage with education and learning. The Navigator team works with the young person and helps them to make personal goals while they get back to school. Available in Sale, Bairnsdale, Croydon and Blackburn.
The School Attendance Support Program (SASP) is an innovative program offered to primary schools that aims to support children and their families to improve primary school attendance. SASP is a free and voluntary service with referrals made via school. Available in Pakenham and Cranbourne.
