Family Group Conferencing.

Family Group Conferencing (FGC) is a family-led, child-focused decision-making process that brings together parents, extended family members, young people, Child Protection practitioners, and service providers to make plans that keep children safe, supported, and connected to family.

At Uniting Vic.Tas, we believe that families are often best placed to understand their own strengths, challenges, and cultural values. FGC provides a safe and structured space for families to share their perspectives, explore solutions, and agree on a plan that promotes the wellbeing of the child or young person.

Referrals and access

Referrals to the Family Group Conferencing program are made internally through Uniting’s support programs. You cannot self refer to this program.

If you are a parent, carer, or family member involved with Child Protection, speak with your caseworker about whether a Family Group Conference could be helpful for your family.
