Our Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP) can support you to become self-reliant and connect with your new community.
You can get support with:
- Employment
- Education and training
- Housing
- Managing money
- Language services
- Physical and mental health and well-being
- Community participation and networking
- Family functioning and social support
- Justice.
This program is offered to people arriving and resettling in Goulburn North East.

What support can I get?
Your Humanitarian Support Program is designed to work in combination with other settlement and mainstream services.
You can access:
- Support when you arrive at the airport
- Help to settle into your accommodation or property
- Food and essential items package
- Help to register with Centrelink, Medicare and a bank
- Help with any health needs
- Details of what to do in an emergency and how to access interpreting services
- Support to access local services.
If you need further help to achieve your settlement, you can also access:
- Programs that build knowledge about the Australian way of life and values
- Help to find long-term accommodation
- Health and family support services
- Local community groups and activities
- Support to register with the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) and attend lessons
- Help to enrol in education and training
- Help to find employment services.
If you’re eligible, you can also the lodge your Free Translating Service (FTS) application with us.
What happens next?
You’ll finish your HSP support when you’ve achieved your settlement outcomes (as identified in your case management plan).
When a person is granted one of the following visas to resettle in Australia, they are referred by DSS to an HSP service provider to access support under the HSP on their arrival in Australia.
- Refugee (subclass 200, 201, 203 and 204) visa; and
- Global Special Humanitarian (subclass 202) visa
