L2P Learner Program

Supporting young drivers to get their licence

Do you know a young person who is currently learning to drive?  Would they benefit from having an experienced driver support them to obtain their probationary licence?

Getting a drivers licence is an important milestone in a young person’s life. It opens up opportunities for employment, as well as increasing confidence, a sense of responsibility, and independence.

The L2P program matches young learners with a driving mentor, and provides free professional lessons.

Become a mentor

We are always on the lookout for more mentors to take young people for driving practice at a time convenient to you, in cars supplied by us. You’ll receive comprehensive training before you hit the road with your learner driver.

Volunteering with Uniting is subject to a satisfactory national police check and Working With Children Check prior to commencement in any service or undertaking.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for the program the young person should meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a valid Victorian learner’s permit
  • Aged 16-21 years old
  • Live in Melbourne’s eastern region
  • Be on (or previously on) a DHHS order in Out of Home Care
