It’s easy to put the needs of your family member or friend first and neglect your own wellbeing. But self-care is essential for unpaid carers.

While stepping away can be difficult, taking time to recharge your batteries can actually help you care better in the long term.

What is Support for Carers?

Support for Carers offers flexible support to make life a little bit easier.

Take time for time out
  • Flexible respite options during the day or overnight
  • Our experienced care workers can step into your care role at home or in the community
  • Group day trips
  • School holiday programs
  • Recreational and social activities such as breakfast groups, walking groups, cinema trips and social events.
Access information
  • Educational workshops
  • Health and wellbeing activities
  • Carer support groups
  • Information and support to find helpful services including counselling.
Access practical support
  • Domestic assistance
  • Garden maintenance
  • Simple home modifications such as hand rails
  • Financial assistance with transport
  • Money towards purchasing specialised equipment.
